Make Cricut Mats Sticky Again Elmer s Craftbond Repositionable Glue Stick
I'm wrapping upward Agglutinative Week with a spray product. I hope you've found this week informative! Brand certain you go back and read the other reviews if you've missed them!
There have been at least 3 times in the by month when I've been in the centre of a crafting dilemma- what mucilage to utilize? Wet is too Wet sometimes, and there is but and so many feet of dry out adhesive yous tin can use on i projection. In that location are times when just a spray will practise! And this month, Elmer'south Arts and crafts Bail Spray Adhesive bailed me out!
Hither's the low-down: it'southward an acid-gratuitous spray mucilage in an aerosol tin can. If you spray the glue and press your surfaces together immediately, it's a permanent bail. If you lot allow it dry, it goes tacky…so and then it's repositionable. Versatile, right? You betcha.
Here's the production info from the Elmer's website:
Acrid-free and photograph safe. Allows for repositioning. Dries permanent. Fast tack – dries clear. Specially formulated for mounting items to a variety of surfaces, including plastics, photos, fabrics, newspaper, foil, cork, metal, wood, films, felt, foams, canvas, leather, glass, cardboard and foam condom. Sprays wide to cover large areas. Resists "bleed-through".
Start a word on how to use information technology. While I followed the instructions on the tin can, it'southward pretty basic: shake the can, open a window, put down newspapers. YES, information technology is an aerosol and there WILL be overspray. Viscid, gummy, glutinous overspray. Y'all are duly warned, and so accept precautions to protect the surrounding area, OK?
Over spray on You lot is pasty, too!
And then here'due south how I decided to swatch this product- I sprayed a sheet of corrugated paper-thin with Multi-Purpose Spray Agglutinative (henceforth to be known equally MPSA) and fastened diverse items when wet (from l-r: lightweight paper, metallic charm, handmade newspaper, wood checker, cardstock, pom-pom, polymer clay push, and chipboard piece. (Which, by the way, I get-go sprayed with MPSA & then glittered.)

Used to glitter a chipboard letter.

With glitter on the background.
After an hour, I took this swatchboard and held it upside-down. Zippo fell off. I even tried pulling gently on everything, and all held fast. Fifty-fifty with moderate endeavor, the just thing that gave way was the polymer clay scrap.
On ward to repositioning! This smaller swatch I sprayed and and so left to dry. Over again, it was tacky to the bear upon, then I tried the repositionable aspect- I tried sticking circles of cardstock on & re arranging. I also tried foiling:

As you can see, it'south OK as a temporary adhesive, simply it doesn't stay tacky plenty to grab the foil, fifty-fifty with burnishing. (No listen- read my review of The Best Glue Always if you lot want a foiling glue.)
Curious how I've used it in the past month?

Glittered forest cutouts.
I used Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive to bling-out these woods decor cut-outs from Full Course Creative. A quick spray, some gold hologram glitter, and viola- instant centerpiece.

Bonding layers of newspaper
When I made this volume using the Grand Calibur and Grand Nestabilities, I wanted to use this pretty flocked paper over paper-thin- but I didn't want it to warp. So I sprayed cereal-box cardboard with MPSA, applied the flocked newspaper, then flipped it over and again, spray-glued and then covered the back side with some manifestly cardstock. THEN I cut it out- and so I didn't take to worry about getting adhesive all the way to the border or gum seeping out the sides. Perfect.

Lastly, I used information technology to refresh my Cricut mats. And then oft I'm knee-deep into a project only to discover that my mat has lost it's sticky. So I sprayed my mat lightly, allow it dry and holy hallelujah, my mat lives to cut some other day!
Here'southward my breakup of the positive and negative:
Pros:
- Truly multi-surface- skilful for porous and non-porous materials.
- Won't contraction newspaper.
- Acrid-gratuitous, so it'south OK for heirloom projects.
- Dual use of permanent AND repositionable.
- Cleans off of peel with a babe wipe. (No special cleaners necessary.)
- Aerosol application makes it super-convenient.
- Comes in four oz or xi oz cans, so you go a choice how much to buy.
- Readily available at large box stores, craft stores, and online.
Cons:
- Overspray- make sure you have newspapers or a big box to spray in.
- It's sticky. (See above.)
- It's an aerosol- not and so world-friendly!
- Flammable, and so there are storage concerns for institutional crafters.
- Buying online is costly, due to shipping issues.
To sum it upward, this is a production that is a MUST in my studio. I may non use it every day, only when you need it, yous NEED it, know what I mean? You lot just might want to have a tin handy!
